Since there are a plethora of phone apps for beauty issues, I will only take a moment of your precious time to recommend a few that keep coming to my attention. They appear in no particular order so fret not about which is the best. Some are generic, for several different beauty topics, while some are specific such as hair, nail polish, or skin. And, I would like to divide them up by free, $.99, or $1.99, but some do offer free trial periods.

If you have already tried them, maybe you can recommend other more obscure ones…sort of “diamonds in the rough.” I prefer the suggestion by a famous band to keep my face in a jar by the door …just take it out and apply it. Maybe having these apps is the next best thing!

An All-purpose Beauty App

Good Guide is an app useful not only for beauty consultation but also for household and food items! Now that is what I call an all-purpose app. That would be one you could have fun with when you are so bored and having to wait; could get ideas for supper, organizing your closet, and best makeup practices to wear at a Bohemian wedding. Oh, it is free.

General Makeup Apps

General Sephora to Go, also free comes to you of course by the beautiful makeup company that is surpassing the more traditional name brands at lightning speed. If it’s just cosmetic products, you desire to check this one out. Besides having individual shops, you can also locate Sephora at most JC Penney stores. And of course, no page on makeup would be complete without a mention from Mary Kay. She sports Mary Kay’s Mobile Virtual Makeover by Mary Kay, Inc. It too is a rather all-in-one makeup app.

Hairstyle Apps

This next one appealed to me: In Style Try-On. My hairdresser usually hates to see me coming because I start out thinking I know what style I want then change my mind right in the middle of her cut, so she would highly counsel me to try that one. Another exciting hair app is I Love Your Hair by House of Mikko. A couple of others include Hairstyle ($.99) and Hair and Beard ($1.99) …so the men remain in the picture.

Nail Apps

Nail apps include OPI Nail Studio (free) and How to Do Your Own Cute Nails. Both of these were regulars and provided me with a chance to keep my nail tech happy since I had been able to “try on” the various colours. (My nail tech and hairdresser are friends, so these apps made their day!)

Information Beauty App

A particularly noteworthy app is Cosmetifique. Here, according to the claims, you can manage your cosmetics and check the quality of the ingredients. If the products have names you have difficulty pronouncing, or ones that sound like arsenic or other undesirables, you might want to avoid using them…right? That would certainly be helpful.

From “Down Under”

From Australia comes some helpful resources such as Daily Glow (free); Natural Beauty Tips (free); and Makeup Free (free). My next personal favourite is not a free one, of course (!), but a must …Age-Defying Tricks ($.99) This thought occurred to me, why in a country with all that excellent humidity would you even need makeup …air conditioning, maybe, but your skin would be perpetually gorgeous!

As I mentioned at the beginning, there are many apps out there for beauty ideas, suggestions, products, opinions and more. If I could transfer them from the phone to my head/face, we would all be better off. Where are you, Eleanor Rigby?
